International Day for the Elderly

The International day for Elderly provides an opportunity to recognize the contributions elders make to their families and communities and to encourage their participation in community activities. The week’s activities offer scientific lectures on geriatric care which help increase awareness about the implications of population ageing as well as help people understand the role that a community has to play to ensure its elderly are taken care of. It also provides participants with updated information on the kinds of health problems elderly face, ways to cope with them and highlight the latest demographic changes and projections for the -fast growing elderly population.
