Born in Amman on the 10th
of June 1981 to HM Late King Hussein Bin Talal and HM Queen Noor Al
Hussein, His Royal Highness Prince Hashem Bin Al Hussein is the
youngest brother of HM King Abdullah II.
Prince Hashem received his elementary education in Amman and then
attended the schools of St. Marks and Fay in the US. He later
graduated from Washington's Maret School in 1999. Prince Hashem passed
out from the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst in 2000 and was
awarded the Prince Saud Abdullah Prize, presented to the cadet with
the best aggregate mark in academic subjects. He also received a
number of high decorations from the Kingdom and abroad.
Serving as a First Lieutenant in the Jordan Arab Army's 71st Battalion
of the Special Forces, Prince Hashem attended several military and
security courses.
Prince Hashem was sworn in as Regent on several occasions and
accompanied HM King Abdullah II on a number of official visits abroad.
In September 2001, Prince Hashem joined a university in the US to
enrol as an undergraduate. He is a qualified parachutist and
sharpshooter. Prince Hashem is the President of the Arab Diving
Federation and the Honorary President of the Jordan Kickboxing
Association.
