Miss Abir Muhaisen was born in Amman in 1973. Adopted by HM Late Queen
Alia Al Hussein (1948-1977) and HM Late King Hussein I of Jordan
(1935-1999) she is a member of the Jordanian Royal Family.
Miss Muhaisen received her elementary education in Jordan along with
her sister Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein and her brother HRH
Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein. After which she attended The Oldfields
School in Maryland, USA where she was captain of the Varsity
basketball and field hockey teams and an All Star Athlete in both
sports. She went on to receive a Bachelors of Arts Degree in
Elementary Education at The American University in Washington, D.C.
She later moved to Virginia Commonwealth University to receive her
Master of Arts in Sports Management and Physical Education and she
became a Certified Teacher in 1998.
Her work experience in her chosen field of youth education and
children ranges from internships as a kintergarten and 3rd grade
teacher in Richmond, to being a trainer for basketball camp, which
entailed coaching, refereeing, chaperoning and keeping track of
statistics for four co-educational camps that she helped to organize
for children aged 9 - 15 years.
As an intern at The American Community School in Amman, Jordan, Miss
Muhaisen worked as a Physical Education Aide, and Soccer and
Basketball Coach Assistant. At The Baccalaureate School in Amman,
Jordan, she served as a part time teacher's aide and a swimming
instructor every afternoon at summer camp for children 3 - 18 years
old.
At Camp Kennybrook, New York, she was head of water skiing and a camp
counsellor for twelve children. From the summer 1994, she gained her
Governess experience in the Washington D.C. area, which included
responsibility for three young children and teaching a Turkish fifth
grader to read English. She has also attained Red Cross Certification.
Most recently her work as a Governess has been extended to children
with special needs, with particular experience working with ADHD
children.
Abir Muhaisen was decorated by HM Late King Hussein of Jordan for
services rendered in the field of youth, and she was publicly
recognised by him for her extraordinary volunteer work, which included
helping to coach the Jordanian National Handball Team.
Miss Muhaisen's hobbies include reading, music, water and snow skiing,
basketball, field hockey, ice hockey and acting. She is also an
accomplished equestrian, having won many prizes at National level in
Showjumping. |
